Vadodara: Ocean of passengers at ST depot before Diwali; Dahod-Panchmahal route housefull despite 100 extra buses

With only 48 hours left for the celebration of Diwali, the great festival of lights, migrant and other district workers and employees living in Vadodara city are leaving in large numbers to go home. The Vadodara Central ST bus stand has been witnessing a huge rush of passengers since early morning. To meet the extra rush of passengers, the Vadodara ST department has started operating about 100 additional buses. However, all the buses going to Panchmahal, Dahod, Jhalod and Limkheda are running completely 'housefull', due to which thousands of passengers are stuck waiting for buses on the platform for hours.

Highest rush towards Dahod-Panchmahal: No place to set foot

The number of migrant families heading to Dahod, Jhalod, Limkheda, Chhota Udepur and Godhra to celebrate Diwali and New Year festivals is the highest. All the regular and extra buses on this route have been packed. The main complaint of the passengers is that the buses from Bharuch, Ankleshwar and Surat and going to Panchmahal via Vadodara are crowded from there. As a result, the local passengers do not even get a place to board when the bus stops at the Vadodara depot. Since five in the morning, women, small children and families with luggage have been sitting on the platform, waiting eagerly for the bus to arrive.

 'Not depots, run extra buses according to the district'

The passengers stuck at the depot expressed their anger against the administration and said that additional point-to-point buses should be placed not only on the basis of the Vadodara depot but also keeping in view the route of the respective district and the actual number of passengers.
