Delhi tragedy: 5 officials including MCD deputy commissioner suspended: Lookout notice issued against building owner; One more body found in debris, 7 dead

The debris of the building that collapsed on Sunday afternoon in Delhi is still being removed. One more body was recovered from the debris on Monday. So far, 7 people have died in this mishap and 12 people have been rescued. The Delhi government has suspended the deputy commissioner, executive engineer, superintendent engineer, assistant engineer and junior engineer of the MCD over the Satya Niketan tragedy. 5 people are seriously injured, who have been admitted to AIIMS. Many more people are still feared to be buried. People are being searched with the help of sniffer dogs and cameras. A lookout notice has been issued against the owner of the building, Hariram Bansal. A lookout notice is an alert through which the investigating agency directs immigration officials to stop a person at the airport or border when he goes abroad. The accident took place at around 1:30 pm on Sunday at Satya Niketan near the South Campus of Delhi University. The building that collapsed was about 40 years old. The building was not declared dangerous in the records of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). According to locals, demolition work was going on in the basement of the building for the last 7 days. The basement was already weak and was also filled with water. During the excavation, one of the pillars moved, due to which the entire building collapsed. The labourers working there at the time of the accident were also buried in the debris. Another building built near the building has also been evacuated. Cracks have been seen in it. According to the rescue team, this building is also in danger of collapse while removing the debris. Satya Niketan is a main student area located near the South Campus of Delhi University. A large number of students stay here in PG and hostels. There are many hostels in this area. Venkateshwar College, Aryabhatta, Motilal Nehru and Maitreyi College of Delhi University are located in the vicinity of it. For this reason, there is a movement of students here throughout the day.
