The doors of temples in Jamnagar, called 'Chotikashi', were closed on Sunday afternoon due to the lunar eclipse of Bhadarvi Poonam. In most of the temples, there was a change in the darshan-seva sequence of the Lord, and all the services throughout the day were completed by noon. Devotees paid obeisance at various temples till noon, and the doors of the evening temples remained closed. In some places of worship, darshan was open at the time of the eclipse. In all the temples, the vessels storing water were emptied and kusha ghas (darbha) was kept. All the temples under the Jamdharmada Trust were closed at 12 noon on Sunday as per the instructions of trustee Jamsaheb, and opened as usual on Monday morning. Darshan was open during the eclipse period from 10 pm to 1.30 pm after the evening aarti at 8.30 pm in the big haveli and mangala aarti will be held at 9.30 am on Monday. Darshan was also closed after noon in the temples of sanatan dharma affiliated sects, including Acharya Peetha of Krishna Pranami Dharma near Khambhaliya Gate, Navtanpuridham Khijda Temple, Swaminarayan Temple near Badi Gate. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple on K.V. Road also completed the nitya seva series before the sutak period of lunar eclipse began according to the panchang, and the darshan was stopped. Only Ramdhun Sankitaran continued unabated. The Satyanarayan Temple on Satyanarayan Temple Road was also closed in the evening after the darshan of Shayan and Shayan Aarti in the afternoon and due to the eclipse, the stories of Poonam were made of Ekadashi. Devotees with the tech of filling poonam in various temples also filled poonam as per the rules only by noon. Most of the temples in the city remained closed after noon due to the lunar eclipse. On Monday morning, as usual, the temples were opened by the temples. From then on, the order of darshan-seva was restored in the daily order.
