The Sardar Patel Planetarium in Kamatibagh is currently closed and will take another 1 year to restart. In such a situation, for the first time in the entire state, the municipality has taken a unique and historic experiment so that children are not deprived of the knowledge of astronomy and space. Under this, the municipality will start 'Sky on Wheels' (Vehicle Mounted Planetarium) in 3 months. It will be a mobile dome shaped modern planetarium, which will reach out to municipal schools and deprived areas. The main objective of the project is to make the economically weaker children of the Shiksha Samiti school, anganwadi, slum aware of the universe through digital medium. Equipped with high-definition full-dome video playback, real-time 3D computer graphics, a tutor and technician will be present in the van, which will give children a live and 3-D experience of the night sky, stars, planets, galaxies. The facility will be free of cost for children from government schools and underprivileged sections. While private schools will have to apply to avail the facility. The prescribed operational expenses will be charged from the private school. Children from the entire class will be able to enjoy the astronaut journey together
