An international conference on the theme of technological innovation and sustainable development was held at Kharek at Smritivan in Bhuj. The Kharek International Conference was held in collaboration with the Central Institute of Dry Horticulture, Bikaner, Kharek Research Centre and Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University and Indian Arid Horticulture Society, Bikaner Rajasthan. In this conference, more than 140 varieties and genotypes of Kharek were exhibited by Kharek Research Center Mundra. In which various kharek varieties were mainly found in Kutch. Apart from this, agricultural scientists from the UNITED States, Morocco and Finland also presented their research on kharek. Dantiwada Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.M. Chauhan said that with the research and expansion of Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University in palm farming as well as the contribution of the Kharek Research Center Mundra of the University, Kharek Research Center Mundra has reached The Kharek of Kutch all over India. The event was inaugurated by Prof. S. Or. Dr. Jagdish Rane was the Organizing Secretary of the programme, Director, Central Institute of Dry Horticulture, Bikaner as well as the Local Organizing Secretary. The programme was conducted by Dr. C.M. Muralidharan as the Deputy Director general of Horticulture, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Students as well as officials of cooperative institutions and farmers from other states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan were present. Various topics related to research and development of Kharek will be discussed for two days by this conference, according to the list of departmental research center Sardar Krishinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University Bhachau.
