Human Rights Federation's representation to the government on GRD soldiers' salary and welfare issues, demanding timely payment and salary hike

Rajkot: The Human Rights Federation Inc. has submitted a representation to the Gujarat government regarding concerns over the delayed and inadequate remuneration of GRD (Gram Rakshak Dal) personnel, who play a significant role in maintaining law and order, managing traffic, and supporting security arrangements during various public events across the state.

Mahendra Ayalani, Founder and CEO of the organization, has written to the Gujarat government and the Deputy Chief Minister, urging them to take appropriate measures for the prompt resolution of issues related to the salaries and welfare of GRD personnel.

Speaking to the media on the matter, Mahendra Ayalani stated that GRD personnel shoulder important responsibilities within the state's security framework and frequently assist the police in carrying out their duties. However, he noted that complaints and representations concerning their wages, timely payment, and other benefits have been received from various parts of the state.

He further questioned whether, given that GRD personnel perform duties comparable to those of other security forces, the government should consider principles of equality and fairness while reviewing their pay and benefits.

The Human Rights Federation has placed the following key demands before the state government:

• Ensure that GRD personnel receive their salaries regularly and on time within the stipulated period each month.

• Provide an appropriate increase in their remuneration in view of rising inflation and the increasing cost of living.

• Review disparities in pay and welfare benefits among different security forces and extend appropriate recognition and benefits to GRD personnel.

The organization expressed hope that the state government would adopt a sensitive approach toward the concerns of GRD personnel, give due consideration to their representation, and take the necessary steps to address their issues.
