The process of filing nomination forms for the local body elections in Gujarat has already started and there is significant movement at various levels across the state. Detailed figures of forms filled so far at all levels of municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats have been revealed. The highest number of 9 forms were filled in the Morbi Municipal Corporation elections.
A total of 16 nomination forms have been filed in 15 municipal corporations in the state. Of these, 3 forms have been registered in Ahmedabad, 9 in Morbi, 2 in Nadiad and 2 in Surat, while not a single form has been filled in municipal corporations like Bhavnagar, Gandhidham, Jamnagar, Karamsad-Anand, Mehsana, Navsari, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Vadodara and Vapi. 9 nomination forms filed for municipal elections
A total of 9 nomination forms have been filed in the municipalities of various districts of the state. Of these, 2 forms have been registered in Modasa in Aravalli district, 4 in Borsad in Anand district, 1 in Kalol in Gandhinagar district and 1 each in Unjha and Vijapur in Mehsana district. All the remaining municipalities are yet to file nominations indicating that the process is going on at a slow pace at this level. 35 nomination forms filed for Zilla Panchayat elections
A total of 35 nomination forms have been filed at the district panchayat level in all the districts of the state. The highest number of 7 forms have been registered in Amreli district, followed by 5 in Devbhoomi Dwarka and 3 in Gandhinagar. Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Navsari and Junagadh have registered 2-2 forms, while Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Botad, Dahod, Jamnagar, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar and Vav-Tharad have registered 1-1 forms. No nominations have been filed in other districts so far. Jafrabad taluka has the highest number of 13 forms filled
A total of 105 nomination forms have been filed for the taluka panchayat elections. Jafrabad taluka of Amreli district has the highest number of 13 forms. In Rajkot district, 6 forms have been filled in Jetpur and 4 in Upleta. In Mansa taluka of Gandhinagar district, 6 forms have been registered. 4 forms have been registered in Khedbrahma in Sabarkantha, 4-4 in Lilia and Savarkundla in Amreli, 3 in Sayla taluka of Surendranagar and 3-3 in Sanand and Jamnagar talukas of Ahmedabad. In many other talukas, 1-2 forms have been registered, while in many talukas no nomination has been registered yet. The Taluka Panchayat elections saw the most enthusiasm and competition
It is clear from the statistics that the highest enthusiasm and competition is being seen at the taluka panchayat level, while the nomination process is still progressing at a slow pace at the municipal and municipal levels. The pace of filing of nomination forms is likely to pick up as the election date approaches and the figures may witness a big spurt at all levels in the coming days.
