The second general meeting of the Morbi Municipal Corporation was held in which various issues of the city and important resolutions were discussed. All the four resolutions moved in the meeting were passed unanimously. However, it was the ruling BJP corporators who raised serious questions against the administration on issues such as the performance of officials, the condition of Nandighar, the quality of development works and the pressures. At the meeting, the corporators were given a monthly allowance of Rs. An honorarium of Rs. 7,000 was sanctioned. Apart from this, Rs. 500 seat allowance, Rs. 1,000 Telephone Allowance and Rs. A stationery allowance of Rs 1,500 has also been sanctioned, which will come into effect from July 1. However, Ward No. Bhavik Jharia of 13 and Ward No. Ganesh Dabhi, 10, announced that he would not take this salary. Ward No. Bhupat Jharia, corporator of Nandighar-3, raised serious issues like the death of Nandis in Nandighar, shortage of sheds, water and fodder. He demanded a high-level probe into the matter and action against those responsible. The mayor replied that the operating agency has been removed, the responsible officer has been suspended and the tender process for the new agency will be conducted. Ward No. Corporator Bhavesh Kanjaria questioned the process of widening the Nani Canal Road (Iconic Road) from 20 metres to 18 metres. The mayor and the commissioner clarified that the road would be constructed as per the 20-metre design approved earlier. He also besieged the administration on the issue of road work after GUDC and water lines, as well as not taking action against major presses. All the corporators in the meeting unanimously complained that the municipal authorities were not picking up their phones due to which there was a delay in resolving the issues of the people. The mayor gave strict instructions to all department officials to immediately respond to the calls of corporators and resolve public grievances quickly. Apart from this, bye-laws on meat shops and slaughterhouses were also approved and it was also decided to take action on food safety and licence checking.
