Students of Anand visit Wadhwan Sursagar Dairy: Practical study of cooperative system

MBA students of Tribhuvan Cooperative University (formerly IRMA) in Anand visited Sursagar Dairy in Wadhwan. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a practical study of the functioning of the cooperative milk system. As part of the course, these students will invest in milk producer cooperatives in different villages of Surendranagar district for the next three days. Here they will get practical information on the rural cooperative system, milk storage system, services provided to members, animal husbandry development programmes as well as operation and management of cooperative institutions. During their visit to the dairy, the students inspected the modern milk processing plant and ice cream plant of Sursagar Dairy. He was briefed in detail about the entire process right from milk acceptance to quality control, processing, packaging, cold chain and production of various dairy products. The officials of the dairy provided guidance to the students on various aspects of the cooperative milk industry, dairy management and the success of the cooperative model. This kind of practical study helps students to understand the actual working of the cooperative sector closely. It also plays an important role in developing rural development, empowering farmers and developing a practical approach towards the cooperative movement.
