Where was the problem in the investigation so far?

The biggest and main reason behind the rapid increase in cancer cases in today's time is that there are no symptoms in the beginning. Currently, scanning machines are mostly used to detect cancer, which detect a tumor only when it grows in the body. In addition, older techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) are used. But by the time the disease is detected, the tumour has grown large and treatment of the patient becomes very difficult or impossible.

How does new technology do wonders?

This new sensor specifically targets small RNA molecules, the molecules that control our genes. Some of the special molecules responsible for lung cancer are present in very small amounts in the blood in the early stages. During laboratory tests, this modern machine was able to detect even a very small amount of cancer molecules as small as 168 zeptomolars. This simply means that even if there are only two or four molecules of cancer in the blood sample, the machine will catch it immediately. This method uses a very thin layer of molybdenum disulfide.
