Dahod SOG police have nabbed a person with an illegal country-made pistol from near Hanuman Mandir on Chakalia Road in Limdi police station area. This action has helped in curbing clandestine smuggling of arms and ammunition from the border area and criminal activities. The police received information that a man from Raniyar village was sitting suspiciously with a weapon near Hanuman Mandir on Chakalia Road in Limdi area. On the basis of this information, the SOG team immediately reached the spot and conducted a raid. During the investigation, a country-made pistol was found concealed in the waist of the suspect's pants. The arrested accused has been identified as Prahlad alias Popat Ramesh Kalara (40, Business: Agriculture, R/o Raniyar, Navipari Phaliya, Jhalod, G. Dahod). The police have recovered about Rs. Dahod district is located on the border of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, leading to smuggling of illegal weapons through secret routes. These weapons are used in murder, robbery and other criminal acts. As such activities are on the rise especially during the festive season, Dahod district police is continuously carrying out 24x7 watch and patrolling. Dahod district superintendent of police Ravirajsinh Jadeja has issued special instructions to maintain strict law and order in the district. SOG and local police have been directed to prevent smuggling of weapons through rural roads from the border of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and keep a strict vigil on suspicious elements. SOG police inspector S.J. Rana and police sub-inspector M.M. A team of SOG police under the guidance of Mali is continuously conducting watch and patrolling in the entire district. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Limdi police station and further investigation is underway.
