Yash Makkad, a 28-year-old resident of the 6th floor of Palladium Residency on Althan Road, sat with the bedroom door closed from inside. When the family knocked on the door, he refused to open it. He threatened that if he broke the door, he would jump out of the window or hang himself. Police and fire counselled and opened the door.
The family immediately informed the police control room and the fire brigade. Instead of using force, the team started talking to the youth continuously from outside the door. The police and fire officer calmed him down and gave him a long explanation. Finally, everyone heaved a sigh of relief as the young man opened the door on his own. In Begumpura, a 90-year-old man fell unconscious in the bathroom.
On the other hand, 90-year-old Hassan Ali Valiyar, who lives on the 1st floor of Maria Mansion in the Begumpura area, went to the bathroom as per routine. Suddenly, he collapsed inside as his health deteriorated. As he did not come out for a long time, the family knocked on the door, but there was no reaction from inside. The fire brigade broke the lock and saved the life of the elderly man
When the door did not open, the family sought the help of the fire brigade. The fire team rushed to the spot and broke the bathroom door with equipment. The elderly man, who was lying in a semi-conscious state, was pulled out and given immediate treatment, but his life was saved.
