Due to the changing weather in Valsad district, the epidemic has reared its head again. So far, 4 positive cases of seasonal flu have been reported in the health department. The district chief health officer has issued an important advisory and appeal to the citizens to prevent the spread of swine flu and seasonal flu virus. The district health administration has said that the viral infection spreads rapidly from one person to another. If someone has flu symptoms like common cold, persistent cough, fever, sore throat or body aches, then they should start wearing masks immediately. Using masks in public places and even among family members can prevent the spread of the virus. Medical officers have appealed to the people not to be negligent. Instead of taking medicines without home remedies or medical advice, one should immediately go to the nearest Government Primary Health Center (PHC), Community Health Center (CHC) or Valsad Civil Hospital for a check-up. Government hospitals have adequate arrangements for free tests and medicines for flu patients. After 4 cases of flu were reported, the health department has started surveillance work in the affected areas. Isolation wards have been kept ready in the Civil Hospital and adequate stock of all the necessary medicines have been made available. The health officer has given some important advice to avoid flu. When you have a cold or cough, you must wear a mask before coming in contact with others. Wash hands frequently with soap and water after coming from outside or after sneezing. Avoid going to unnecessary crowded places during the pandemic. Drinking enough water and eating fresh food is essential to maintain the immunity of the body. Contact the nearest government health center as soon as symptoms appear. The health officer has urged the citizens to stay away from rumours and cooperate with the administration by being careful and vigilant instead of being afraid.
