According to reports, 22-year-old Rishita Rajan Mistry was living with her family in 'Sukun Palace' behind the late garden near Khodiyar Mata's mound in Katargam area. Rishita had gone to take a bath on the terrace of her house to enjoy the heavy rains that started in Surat. In the meantime, suddenly there was a loud explosion in the sky amid the black clouds and suddenly a black flash of lightning fell on Rishita. The lightning was so strong that Rishita suffered severe burns from her left hand shoulder to elbow and instantly collapsed on the terrace. When the neighbours noticed the horrific incident that took place on the terrace, they saw Rishita lying in an unconscious state and started shouting loudly. Hearing the screams, family members and locals rushed to the terrace. Rishita was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment in a bloodied and burnt condition. Nature, however, had other plans. The doctors on duty at the hospital declared Rishita dead after a preliminary examination, which left the family in a state of shock. As soon as she heard some noise outside, the mother rushed out, where the ground slipped from under her feet as soon as she saw her daughter lying unconscious and bleeding. With the help of the people in the vicinity, the innocent Aleena was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Surat for immediate treatment. Thus, at the beginning of the monsoon, a total of three promising youths were killed due to lightning strikes in Surat.
