In the last 24 hours, four separate incidents of suicide have come to light in Surat city. In Greater Varachha, a nursing student committed suicide by consuming poisonous medicine after her family sought time to marry her lover. In Varachha, the girl committed suicide by consuming poisonous medicine after leaving her husband. Apart from this, two people, including Parineeta, committed suicide by hanging themselves in Vadra Road and Kapodra areas. The police have registered a case of accidental death in all the cases and further investigation is underway. Incident 1: Student in Depression Swallows Poison
Dhara (name changed), a 25-year-old daughter of a hira office manager who is originally a resident of Nagara village in Khambhat taluka of Anand and now lives in Mota Varachha area, committed suicide by consuming poisonous drug. After completing her nursing studies at Anand, Dhara went to RN. She was doing coaching classes. During this time, she had a love affair with a young man and wanted to marry him. She fell into deep depression as the family asked her to think after a few months instead of giving her consent. The family brought her to Surat and she was also undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, Dhara consumed poisonous medicine at home and was rushed to a private hospital in a critical condition, where she died after a short treatment. Incident 2: Husband left two months ago
Pooja Kumari Shivwalk Sahni, a 19-year-old native of Muzaffarpur in Bihar and currently living in Varachha Ghanshyam Nagar Street No. 9, hanged herself by tying a saree with an iron hook in her house last night. Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Pooja Kumari had left her husband two months ago. She had been living in a live-in with another young man since then. However, after leaving her husband, she was constantly under mental stress. It is suspected that she took the final step due to this separation and depression. Hasina Tukula Nirmal Pradhan, a 21-year-old native of Odisha's Ganjam district and currently living in Vedrod Triveni Society, hanged herself by tying a dupatta with an iron hook on the roof of her house. Hasina got married two years ago and her husband used to earn his livelihood by working as a labourer in the textile charity. The family had been in financial trouble for some time now as she did not have enough income in the sancha work. Suffering from household expenses and financial crunch, Hasina ended her life at night. Incident 4: 50-year-old jeweller committed suicide by tying a rope to a fan
Bharatbhai Limbabhai Patil, a 50-year-old native of Nandurbar in Maharashtra and currently living in Kapodra Shrinathji Society, hanged himself by tying a rope to a fan at home in the afternoon. Bharatbhai used to do a loose job pasting stones in saree-dress material and has a son and a daughter. He had been struggling financially for a long time as his work was not going well and his income was limited. Unable to bear the financial burden, he took the final step. The suicide of his father has caused grief in the family.
