In Navratri garba, young people dress up in traditional attire and look different from others, young people also get new ornaments made with chaniya-choli from the fashion designer. Now, according to the new trend, old-fashioned metal coins including copper, brass, silver and other metals are used for jewelry that looks heavy in appearance but is lighter in weight.

Sunita Rahul Thakkar, a fashion designing graduate who lives in the city's Sewasi area and has a studio in Akota area, has created a stunning jewellery for Navratri this year using old-fashioned currency coins. Necklaces, earrings, rings, headscarves, kandoras, payals have been prepared for the youth from unique metal coins including copper-brass-silver. Colorful threads of cowrie, anklets, conch shells, silk have been used through hand-weaving to make the ornaments look attractive as they mix with the fragrance of gold. The old-fashioned coins were sourced from collectors across the country, including Anjar, Uttar Pradesh-Moradabad, Rajasthan's Jaipur-Jodhpur-Udaipur, Kutch-Bhuj, Ahmedabad-Manek Chowk-Dhalgarwad, Vadodara's Mangalbazar-Nagarwada. Jewellery-fashion designer Sunita Thakkar further added that since 2021, every year in Vadodara, artificial ornaments have been prepared with new ideas for Navratri. It is worth mentioning that in the olden days, women used to wear hairpins, earrings, necklaces, kandoros, bracelets-sidebands from copper-brass-silver coins, including earrings, five paise, twenty-five paise.
