Heavy rains in Valsad: Five inches of rain in Kaprada and five and a half inches in Dharampur, 21 low-line roads closed

Valsad district has received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Kaprada received the highest rainfall of 123 mm followed by Dharampur (114 mm). The district has recorded an average rainfall of 85.83 mm. Due to the rains, water has returned to low-line roads in 21 low-lying areas of the district. The administration has closed these roads for vehicular traffic. Valsad received 62 mm rainfall, Pardi 59 mm, Umargam 67 mm and Vapi 90 mm. Since June 1, the district has received an average rainfall of 1,060 mm. In the last 24 hours, 646.40 mm rainfall has been recorded in the upper reaches of Madhuban dam. The water level of the dam has reached 70.40 meters. With the release of 34243 cusecs of water in the dam, 8 gates are being opened 1 meter and 26043 cusecs of water is being released into the Damanganga river. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with heavy winds in south Gujarat including Valsad district, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman. The administration has urged people not to pass through low-level bridges.
