The water ATMs started for the welfare of the people at Modasa Crossroads and Malpur Road have been closed for a long time due to gross negligence and poor maintenance of the system. The facility could not be reactivated despite the completion of the term of two presidents in the municipality. In the current scorching heat, workers and pedestrians from the surrounding rural areas are struggling for drinking water, while the newly appointed president of the municipality and the corporators have been demanding that the water ATMs should take immediate steps in this regard. Water ATMs were started by the municipality for the convenience of the people near the garden of Odhari Mataji temple on the main crossroads of Modasa city and Malpur Road. Labourers, travellers and local small and big traders coming from nearby villages for employment will get 20 litres of RO for just one rupee and 10 rupees. The main objective of this scheme was to provide clean and cool water to the RO. CITU and Mazdoor Union take up the campaign
Recently, the Mazdoor Union and CITU leader D. R. Jadhav along with the workers raised a fierce demand through social media. The main demand of the union is that the arrangement of cold drinking water for the workers at the crossroads should be arranged at the earliest.
