No-confidence motion against Damli gram panchayat sarpanch: 9 members support Manjulaben Bharwad

Demli gram panchayat in Shahra taluka of Panchmahal district has seen political heat. The no-confidence motion moved against Sarpanch Manjulaben Rajeshbhai Bharwad has been passed with a majority. The panchayat members made serious allegations of arbitrary behaviour of the woman sarpanch and the gram panchayat members being carrying out development works without taking them into confidence. A written representation in this regard was made to the Taluka Development Officer by the panchayat members. Following this presentation, a special general meeting was held at the Gram Panchayat office under the chairmanship of the Assistant Taluka Development Officer. In this meeting, the voting process was carried out on the no-confidence motion presented against the sarpanch. During the voting, 9 members voted in favour of the no-confidence motion and the motion against Manjulaben Bharwad was passed with a majority. Now, as per the rules, after the no-confidence motion against the sarpanch is passed, the charge of the sarpanch will be handed over to the deputy sarpanch. It may be recalled that the woman sarpanch had also courted controversy during the campaign for the local body elections in June 2025. During a night rally, a video of him luring voters to give Rs 5100 cash on the occasion of death and an LED TV at the wedding ceremony went viral. An official complaint was also lodged by the city TDO against Sarpanch Manjulaben Bharwad for violating the code of conduct in this matter.
