The Gir Somnath SOG team has nabbed three accused who were on the run for three months in the crime of honey trap and extortion with false police identity from Surat city and rural area. The accused were wanted in an offence registered at Gir Gadhada police station. The police team started investigations in Surat city and rural areas after obtaining information from the concerned departments to reach out to the accused. With the help of Surat City SOG team, a continuous watch was kept on the accused using technical analysis and human resources. Eventually, the three accused were nabbed. They have been handed over to Gir Gadhada police station after necessary legal formalities. According to the police, the modus operandi of the accused to commit the crime was shocking. They used to create false police identities against people and threaten to implicate them in false cases and then extort money. The accused have been identified as Kajalben alias Shivani (29, resident of Kamrej, Surat), Divyesh Devayat Wadher (28, resident of Shubham Residency, Katodara-Olpad) and Dilip Chuni Zala (40, resident of Surat Awas, Pasodara Patia). Police investigations have revealed that a case was also registered against Kajalben alias Shivani at Anand Town police station earlier. In the entire operation, ASI Jigneshgiri of SOG, Police Constable Mahavirsinh Mangalsingh, Kalpeshbhai Kanabhai, Gir Gadhada Police Station personnel Shivaniben Bhavsinghbhai, outsourced driver Udayagiri and Surat City SOG team played an important role. The work of the Gir Somnath police has become significant as the accused who have been on the run for a long time in the honey trap crime have been arrested by extending the investigation to Surat.
