Vadodara: Hi-tech online gambling den busted in Waghodia's Kamalapura

The district LCB conducted a raid yesterday on a hi-tech online gambling den in a rented house of Siddhi Vinayak Homes in Kamalapura village of Waghodia. 5 persons were caught red-handed while gambling on victory and defeat through online GET-ID. Police recovered a laptop, 11 phones, a Sonet car and a total of Rs. Goods worth Rs 7,37,500 were seized.

Computer operators were employed in a rented house number 6-28 of Siddhi Vinayak Society in Kamalapura village.

Upon receiving the information, the district LCB team raided the house yesterday. From the first floor of the building, the police team asked the computer operators to check the GET-ID online ID on the laptop and mobile screen. And through a website called emp.adminpay1.net, customers were caught gambling by depositing and withdrawing money online.

During the police investigation, it came to light that Nikunj Patel of Vadodara and Nirmal Patel of Shinore had rented the house. He along with his 14 per cent partner Rajesh alias Raju Vihol used to run an online gambling network with a salary of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 per month.

Police also found gambling equipment as well as a diary containing entries of financial accounts from the spot. The LCB seized 14 per cent shareholder Rajesh Kumar alias Raju Amratbhai Vihol (resident of Surat), operator Sanjay Singh Chandaninsingh Kachhwaha (resident of Madhya Pradesh), operator Rohitbhai Rameshbhai Prajapati (resident of Patan), operator Gyansingh Ramcharan Verma (resident of Uttar Pradesh) and bookkeeper Rakeshbhai Gordhanbhai Metalia (resident of Surat) from the spot. The police seized three laptops, a Wi-Fi router, an inverter battery, a laptop stand, charger, bags, account books, 11 phones. A car and cash were seized from a total of Rs 7,37,500.

A case under Sections 4 and 5 of the Prevention of Gambling Act was registered at Waghodia police station and further legal investigation was conducted by PSI H.P. Gupta of LCB. Chauhan has been assigned.
