Rathyatra 2026: The 149th grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is going to take place on 16th July in Ahmedabad. With just a few days left for the Rath Yatra, preparations have been intensified by the administration regarding security. Action has been taken especially against dilapidated houses located on the route of the Rath Yatra.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the district administration are on alert mode for the 149th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath on July 16. A total of 544 dilapidated houses have been identified in the central zone along the entire route of the Rath Yatra. Out of these, 31 houses which are extremely dangerous have been demolished so that no untoward incident takes place during the Rath Yatra. Public Warning Notices have been put up by the AMC on other dilapidated buildings.

149th Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath's 'Mameru' will be held after 25 years at his original old Mosal on Vasan Street. Devotees visited Mamera with faith and enthusiasm at the Ranchhodrai temple located on Vasan Street. Silver Sudarshan Chakra, Morli and Plough will be offered to the Lord, while artistic Vagha, Alankar and Parvati decorations will also be offered to the students. For the next two days, devotees will be able to take advantage of the darshan of Mamera in Vasan Street
Electric pole and intensive checking of power box
Ahmedabad city police are finalising security preparations for the 149th Jagannath Rath Yatra. Intensive checking of all electric poles and power boxes located on the entire route of the Rath Yatra has been carried out in the Dariapur police station area. The team of BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad) and Torrent Power carried out a joint operation to inspect and mark each electric pole and power box to ensure the safety and security of the devotees during the Rath Yatra.
