A budget of Rs 240.10 crore was approved in the general assembly: Zilla Panchayat gives priority to education, highest allocation of Rs 4.23 crore

The Annual Budget for the year 2026-27 was presented by the President in the general meeting of the District Panchayat of Kutch, which was unanimously approved by the members. Presented under Section 163 of the Gujarat Panchayat Act, 1993, this budget is an attempt to provide facilities to the last man and strengthen the rural economy. The provisions made in the basic sectors like education, health and girl education will prove to be a milestone in the overall development of the district. In the presence of elected members, office bearers and officials in the General Assembly, the planned allocation has been made keeping in mind the interest of Kutch. In this budget presented in the General Assembly, priority has been given to schemes for girl education, Beti Bachao, eradication of malnutrition and economic upliftment of cattle rearers. Zilla panchayat president Janaksinh Jadeja reiterated his resolve to make Kutch a model district. In the Zilla Panchayat budget, an estimated surplus of Rs 134,12,84,000, an estimated revenue of Rs 105,97,75,000, a total available fund of Rs 240,10,59,000, an estimated expenditure of Rs 71,95,77,000 and an estimated closing surplus of Rs 168.14 crore were presented. An important proposal was moved by the President in the General Assembly. The proposal provides for administrative approval for additional amount to meet the SOR revision due to technical reasons, especially in the works sanctioned earlier. As per the Resolution moved in the General Assembly, the works sanctioned under District Development Plan for the year 2020-21 had necessitated an additional expenditure as per the new SOR of 2024-25, with a total sanctioned additional amount of Rs. 8 lakh and this additional amount will be allocated from the pending savings of the works which were cancelled in the previous years. According to the statistical report presented in the meeting, funds have been reallocated in two main works, namely, Rs. 10,000 crore for the work of solar panels on the panchayat ghar in Rampar village of Mandvi taluka for the year 2020-21. 1,22,763 and Rs 15 lakh were sanctioned for the year 2021-22 for construction of a room in the Panchayat Primary School in Jadodar village of Nakhatrana taluka. An additional Rs 6.77 lakh has been allocated for this work. Proposal for bifurcation of Pragpar group gram panchayat in Mundra A proposal to form a new gram panchayat named Pragpar-2 has been taken forward from the Pragpar group gram panchayat of Mundra taluka. The Pragpar group has prepared and submitted a proposal with all the necessary documents for the division of the gram panchayat. An official resolution has also been passed by the Pragpar group gram panchayat on the issue. In the general meeting held on 23/12/2025 of Taluka Panchayat Mundra, a resolution was passed approving the formation of Pragpar-2 Gram Panchayat. The Taluka Development Officer is said to have completed the necessary formalities. After the completion of the process, the proposal to create a new Gram Panchayat named Pragpar-2 from the Pragpar Group Gram Panchayat was presented to the general body of the Zilla Panchayat for approval. The district panchayat is in the process of sending the proposal to the government and recommending it for approval.
