Ahmedabad Smart City Corruption: The rainy season has been lashed across Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, this first rain has opened the pool of pre-monsoon planning and operations of most of the cities in the state. Amid the claims of a smart city built by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of crores of rupees, a serious incident has come to light last night near the busy Jivraj Park crossroads in the western part of the city, causing a major traffic jam.
After the Vasna area at the beginning of the monsoon, thousands of local residents and motorists are facing severe hardship due to this situation created due to pre-monsoon operations and substandard work of road contractors on the same road, which exposes the so-called development and corruption of the system
According tolocal citizens, the same Jivraj Park crossroads had a big earthquake at the same place during the monsoon last year as well. Instead of repairing it properly by the administration, the poor quality drainage line has been restored and this year instead of one, there have been two bumps. This incident presents a perfect example of corruption.
Long queues of vehicles are being seen in the surrounding areas during peak hours as the roads are washed away and deep potholes are found at themain crossroads. Emergency vehicles like school buses and ambulances are also stuck in this traffic problem. Local traders and residents have expressed outrage and said that the tax collection system in the name of smart city is endangering the lives of the people. Citizens have demanded that strict legal action be taken against the agencies and contractors responsible for making pre-monsoon action plans only on paper and that these illusions be permanently repaired on a war footing.
