Morbi: Dead cows dumped at dumping site at dumping site: Hindu outfit protests, municipal corporation sacks temporary employee

The death of stray cattle in Morbi city has sparked a controversy over serious negligence on the issue of proper disposal of cattle. Leaders of Hindu organisations, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, rushed to the spot after learning that dead cows were dumped in public among the garbage at a dumping site near Lalpar village. On being informed about the incident, officials and office bearers including Mayor Uttam Surani, Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Soni also reached the spot. There was a heavy stench at the spot as the carcasses of dead cows were dumped in the open with garbage instead of buried. Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders Kamalbhai Dave and Bhavinbhai Bhatt expressed their anger against the office bearers of the municipal corporation. The leaders said that such negligence towards the cows by the municipal corporation, which came to power in the name of Hindutva, is unacceptable. The mayor and other office bearers at the venue held discussions with the leaders with handkerchiefs on their noses due to the stench. It may be recalled that in view of the recent incidents of deaths of Nandis in Nandighar, run by the Morbi Municipal Corporation, the standing committee had also cancelled the contract of the agency that runs Nandighar. The incident is also being considered serious in the same context. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the municipal corporation took immediate action to properly dispose of the dead cows. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Kamalbhai Dave said that Nimeshbhai Khambhala, a temporary employee of the department concerned, has been relieved of service with immediate effect.
