Heavy rains in Gujarat over the past four days have largely eased the worries of the farmers and the government. Heavy rains have been forecast in some districts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra today. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert with the forecast of heavy rains in 8 districts and Union Territory today. On Saturday, it rained in more than 130 talukas in the state. Heavy rains lashed Amreli, Gir Somnath and Navsari districts causing waterlogging in rural areas. Monsoon arrives in areas other than Kutch
Gujarat witnessed a deficit in rainfall in the month of June due to the late arrival of monsoon this year. However, most of the districts have been covered by universal rainfall in the state since early July. However, Kutch district is still deficient in rainfall. Kutch has not received even one per cent of the season's rainfall. The 7 talukas have been completely devastated.
